On Wednesday the 10th, we were notified that two of our FCH employees tested positive for COVID-19. These employees work in a non-clinical (office) area and have no contact with patients – they are not doctors, nurses, therapists, medical technicians, etc. They are presently self-isolating at home until the public health department and their primary care physician deems them safe to return to work. A few others who work in the same office space with these two positive people were recommended to self-quarantine at home for a period of time as a precaution because of potential exposure. This is being done per the recommendation of Public Health Solutions out of an abundance of caution to keep everyone safe. Currently, none of these employees are ill and none of them had patient contact.
We are working closely with Public Health Solutions so that all public health recommendations we have in place continue to be followed. Those recommendations include:
- Universal masking
- Screening of patients, visitors, and staff upon arrival to the hospital
- Vigilant cleaning – hand washing and disinfecting of surfaces and common touch areas
Public Health Solutions has assured FCH there is no increased risk to patients, visitors, and staff because we have been following the public health recommendations and have acted quickly to take action with this situation.
