Deborah Thimsen-Villa, MA, LIMHP

Mental Health Therapist

Before coming to Nebraska from California, I was the director of a children’s ministry serving children and families in my community; including volunteering as a police chaplain and working closely with other community partners to provide educational and family centered programs, while raising 5 children.

Since relocating in 2008, I have worked with children and families in a variety of settings, including Geneva’s Youth Rehabilitation and Treatment Center, Mosaic, and Pathfinder Support Services.  Since earning my Master’s degree in Counseling in 2016, I have worked primarily in private practice until joining the behavioral health team at Fillmore County Hospital in 2019, where I have enjoyed working with seniors in an inpatient and outpatient setting, traditional outpatient individuals, and students.  I enjoy working with people of all ages and will continue to pursue my passion for children and families with a focus on pediatric behavioral health.

I have had additional training and experience in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) and Sand Tray Therapy. I am also a Circle of Security Parenting (COSP) Facilitator and Circle of Security Parenting-Classroom (COSP-C) Facilitator and working towards Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) certification.
