Quality at Fillmore County Hospital
Our Philosophy: Every staff member at Fillmore County Hospital is part of the Quality Improvement Team. Together, we strive to provide exceptional care to all who enter our doors.
Our Quality Teams: FCH has built several Quality Teams to work on projects related to their job duties:
Nursing Quality Team: Is comprised of RN’s and LPN’s and works on the nursing role in quality of care, patient experience and patient outcomes. This team meets monthly and works on topics such as safe medication practices, preventing infections and preventing falls.
Clinical Quality Team: Team members are all PA Hospitalists, and the Directors of Pharmacy, Nursing and Quality as well as our CEO. This team works to design and provide evidence-based, safe care for all of our patients. Examples of their work include developing orders for patients with chest pain, pneumonia and sepsis to be sure we are providing the most up to date care.
Hospital Quality Team: The core members of this team are the CEO, Director of Operations, and Director of Quality. Every Department Director has improvement projects they design and report on quarterly. Some examples of ongoing projects are in our Dietary Department: Improving Patient Satisfaction related to our meals and in Specialty Clinic: Monitoring Outcomes of Colonoscopies.
Our Projects: FCH takes part in many Quality Improvement initiatives, reporting data and studying results from multiple sources. Some examples:
MBQIP (Medicare Beneficiaries Quality Improvement Project)- Improving communication with other hospitals during transfer, immunizations for patients and healthcare workers, preventing infections and preventing falls.
HIIN (Hospital Improvement Innovation Network): reducing adverse drug events, preventing pressure ulcers, and preventing catheter associated urinary tract infections.
