Nephrology
Nephrology is a specialty of internal medicine that focuses on the treatment of diseases that affect the kidneys. You have two kidneys. They’re located below your ribcage on either side of your spine. The kidneys have several vital functions, including:
- removing waste and excess fluid from the blood
- maintaining your body’s electrolyte balance
- releasing hormones with functions such as managing blood pressure

Jeff Marple, MD, received his bachelor’s degree at Baylor University in Waco, TX, and earned his medical degree at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, OK. He completed an Internal Medicine residency at OU. He did a fellowship in Nephrology at Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City. After several years practicing in Lincoln as a nephrologist, he joined Inpatient Physician Associates as a hospitalist in 2018. Board Certified.
Dr. Marple grew up in Oklahoma City, OK. He and his wife Lisa have five children, three grandsons, one granddaughter, and three dogs. He enjoys playing tennis, running, playing bass, spoiling his grandchildren, and traveling with his lovely wife.
