Fillmore County Medical Center (Clinic) and Fillmore County Hospital are thrilled to welcome Dr. Abra Robbins and her family in November as she begins her career as a full-time family physician.  She will join the medical staff at Fillmore County Hospital as the second physician to join this Fall, following Dr. Allie Swanson who started in September.  She will practice full-scope family practice medicine, including Obstetrics.  Thus, joining Dr. Bespalec and Dr. Beckman as the third physician at FCH who delivers babies.

Dr. Robbins was born and raised in rural South Africa and has a very interesting and diverse background.  She graduated from Nico Malan High in 2004 and then attended Union College in Lincoln where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and minor in International Rescue and Relief.  It was there where she met David, her future husband.  After graduation, she returned to South Africa but returned to the United States in 2011 to work as an Au Pair for several families.  She reconnected with David and they were married in 2012, then moved to Utgiagvik, Alaska, where she worked as a substance abuse counselor for two years and took Public Health classes at the University of Colorado before starting medical school at Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Virginia in 2015.  She served as a reserve officer in the Navy for two years before joining the residency program at the Lincoln Family Medicine Program in Lincoln, Nebraska, in 2020.

Dr. Robbin’s husband, David, was born and raised in Alaska and graduated from Barrow High in 2005.  He attended Union College in Lincoln to study Mechanical Engineering and completed this degree from Walla Walla University in Washington in 2010.  He worked as an artic utility engineer back in Alaska for several years, commuting back and forth from Alaska to Virginia, where Abra was attending medical school.  When Abra started her residency in Lincoln in 2020, they settled in Lincoln.  He now works as a senior Agricultural Engineer for Setje Agri-Services and Engineering in Raymond, NE.

Abra and David just welcomed their first child to their family, a boy named Bowie.  They have purchased a local home and plan to relocate to Fillmore County very soon.  In their spare time, they enjoy traveling. After Dr. Robbins is settled, a public open house will be held at a date/time to be determined.

Dr. Robbins will start on November 14th. To schedule an appointment, please call (402) 759-4485
