Starting September, the Fillmore County Medical Center (FCMC) and the Fillmore County Hospital (FCH) look forward to welcoming Allie Swanson, M.D. Allie and her husband, Zach, both Nebraska natives. They were raised on family farms and look forward to joining the Geneva community. They have a one-year old son, Augustine.
Allie grew up in Indianola and graduated from Southwest High School in 2012. She loved growing up on the family farm, helping her parents on their farm and ranch north of Indianola. She attended Doane College and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Biology in 2016. She met her future husband, Zach, during their sophomore year at Doane and they were married in March of 2018.
After college, she continued her education by attending medical school at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She graduated in 2020, receiving her Medical Doctorate Degree. After medical school, she started in a residency program at UNMC, joining the advanced track rural family medicine program in 2019. She will finish her residency program in June of 2023, just prior to starting her employment in Geneva. She will be employed by the FCMC, and therefore provide hospital coverage for patients at FCH.
Zach grew up on a family farm near Malmo and graduated from North Bend Central in 2012. He attended Doane College (with future wife, Allie) and graduated with a bachelors of science degree in Physics in 2016. He then completed a second bachelors degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2018. Zach is currently employed by Reinke Manufacturing Company, Inc., as an electrical and software engineer designing control and remove monitoring technology for irrigation systems.
FCMC and FCH staff members look forward to having them in the community and having Dr. Swanson on their team.
